What Is Campaign Photography?
"A picture speaks a thousand words"
Domestic Violence Campaign Photography
The phenomenon of violence most often in the context of a woman - the victim and the men - the perpetrator, while statistics show that the truth of violence by women against men is just as common. The problem of domestic violence on the part of women is ignored - considered to be less harmful. The men of this campaign have suffered painful injuries. They were, strangled, been stamped in their eyes and skin breaks away like a paper!
Through a photo I believe it can covey many emotions, stories and morals. This picture shows how domestic violence doesn't only occur to women but also men. its only light comes from the man while the rest is shrouded in darkness. The most emotions comes from the figure of the hand around the neck. this could've have been done by Photoshop by merging the hand figure into his neck. The photo also locks in on an older man, this tells the public that no matter what age you are, its wrong to assume that only a "type" suffer from domestic violence and shows us domestic violence can happen to anyone of any age and gender.
In this photo we see a man who is almost backing in fear from perhaps being beaten. This photo also shows how he only has one eye, which is screwed shut. The other has wasted away, we see specks of what is probably paper. I think this resembles paper and how it slowly becomes useless over time, eventually becoming something that is not worth caring about and how it rots away. I think to show how we associate paper with waste and this man portrays how he is slowly wasting away. The color in the background is washed by black and its light is fueled only by the blue top the man is wearing. Both quite moody, dull colors but bring a momentous amount of emotion. This to me shows the depth of emotion that used in the picture and tells us that not only can violence happens behind doors and the behind facades and soft deceitful wiles of others, but everything isn't as always what it seems.
Animal Cruelty Campaign Photography
Most of us love animals, and yet we remain ignorant of the abuse of domestic or circus animals or the extinction, poaching and over-harvesting of wild populations.
This picture says everything at a simple glance. The clock is the backdrop against the whole picture. The picture tells us the story on how every animals or a species dies almost every minute. The animal placed in between the clock hands is simply saying how endangered they are. The red hand contrasts against the cantankerous hues of grey and black and ties in with the blood that is seeping out of the animal being killed. The use of chiaroscuro creates a shadow on the clock, this shadow is used to create a dark, somber look to emphasize how serious the photos story is.
ANIMALS ARE NOT CLOWNS!
Animals aren't actors, spectacles to imprison and gawk at, or circus clowns. Yet thousands of these animals are forced to perform silly, confusing tricks under the threat of physical punishment.
The picture overall is heart-wrenching to even look at, lets not even think what the animals feel like! The monkey is trapped by steel arms, trapped or probably locked in a semi-trailer park waiting to be used for our "entertainment". This depicts the harsh truth of animals on the road, each has no choice but to be forced to join. The makeup mocks the animal but captures the true reality of what life is in the circus.

My Chosen Campaign
For my chosen campaign, I have decided to choose Domestic Violence. This is because I wanted to show the sheer reality and brutality and violence that happens to the most normal of people. I want to capture the sense of the fear and the phenomena on how domestic violence doesn't target a few select people, but can target anyone.

First Shoot
Worst Photo
I chose this as my worst photo because the picture doesn't portray the story I wanted to tell. I wanted show that domestic abuse or violence doesn't just happen to set people but can happen to anyone and how easy it is to see. The exposure in the picture is too bright. Also the angle the picture taken at is completely wrong. The makeup on the eye looks too glittery, this results in the picture looking too fake and not realistic.
Best Photo
I chose this photo as my best photo because I like the lighting and how it is more visible and lighter on the left side of her face but it’s just a bit darker on the right hand side which creates a bigger definition in the face. The black
and white effect also helps the picture stand out because it helps the lighting and the features more visible. The shadow that stands on the wall adds to the omnibus and gloomy effect of the picture. The exposure the picture fits with pictures dark theme. The photo uses aperture, this shown by the shadow cast on the wall.

SECOND PLAN
Main Idea: My idea is to have two shoes (a mans boot and a woman's heel) the bottom of the mans boot will have mud on it and be on top of the womans shoe. It will be taken behind a dark backdrop. I will use Photoshop to include the text 'When HE controls YOUR life, Its NO longer Your life'
Worst Photo
I chose this photo as my worst photo of the shoot because the picture doesn't fit in with the shoot. The exposure is too bright and the focus point is in the wrong place. It focuses more on the front of the shoe than the overall picture. It does not capture the aim of domestic abuse I wanted to show. The exposure is too bright this results in the picture not fitting with the concept of the photo shoot that shows the violence that occurs on domestic violence. I wanted to show the male shoe(boot) dominating the females shoot (heel). However the boot is focused on more and overshadows the female shoe and doesn't depict what I originally wanted to show.
Best Photo
I chose this picture as my best photo of the shoot because it captures the sense of reality and morality I wanted to portray in the picture, 'When He Controls Your Life, It's Not Yours Anymore.' The overall exposure in the picture is quite dark, this makes the picture look like its shrouded in darkness- an element that's drawn so strongly from the photo and links in with the secret behind on abusive relationships and how they are kept hidden in darkness. I wanted the picture tell the sheer harshness and blunt forcefulness domestic violence has on its victims, this will hopefully transfer the pull on emotions and the saying "tug of the heartstrings" will come to light and have some meaning to the viewer. I included the text further enhance the picture and also to show to the viewers what domestic abuse entails. I used the red because its bold and fierce color - almost violent and mean, also I think it represents a dominant aura- a common factor in a abusive relationship is control over another. It's also more highlighted and stands out of the picture, when looking at the picture your eyes are drawn to the text, which will lead the viewer to gaze at the picture.
Take 3
This is my first shoot on Take 4. I used Photoshop to add the text onto the notebook. However, judging from the way it looks and I will probably redo this take, using a real diary and in my own penmanship. This is to make the picture look more realistic and true. Doing the picture on Photoshop resulted in the picture looking to fake and not believable. Overall, the picture does get my point across, but does not look the way I originally wanted it to.
Worst Photo
I chose this as my worst photo because half the photo is covered up and zoomed in too much. This results the writing being cut out of the shot, so the viewer cannot see it and not fully grasp the concept behind the picture. The hand is in most of the shot and blocks out everything else.
Best Photo
I chose this as my best photo because its gets across my point that I wanted to portray. The lighting in this photo plays a main role in this picture, its dull, dark and gloomy. I wanted to capture the mindset of person who experiences this. Hopefully the emotion I wanted to portray shows itself in the picture. The focus is sharp on the hand and the diary, so the viewer can clearly suss out what's going on. I had edited the hand on Photoshop by using the desaturate tool.
